Here’s the poster I designed for the upcoming MPH Breakfast Club for LitBloggers, the first of its kind, with Eric Forbes at the helm. Sharon Bakar will introduce London-based Yang-May Ooi (author of The Flame Tree and Mindgame) and Eric will do the honours for Indian-born Sharanya Manivannan (author of Iyari, a collection of poems and Constellation of Scars, her first novel).
Do come, one and all, as it promises to be a scintillating experience. One would do well to feed one’s mind after overindulging the body over Chinese New Year.
Speaking of which, Happy Chinese New Year to all my friends and readers! May the angpows flow freely… ![]()

For this poster, I made use of the following images: Books by Sanja Gjenero, and Fork by Ove Tøpfer. Danke, danke.
I’ll try to be there.
i like the cover, and the little dessert fork. reminds me of cakes.
You are very creative, wish I had a talent to draw and design. Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year my friend, guess all of you must have had your reunion dinner by now. :o))
Great work - I love to read my self, so this is a good cause. Keep up the good work!!
zewt,
Cool! Hope to see ya there!
Yuri,
I take that compliment seriously, bro - you always had good taste.
FireHorse,
We all have a talent, just whether we let ourselves go and try something out. I spent two whole years away from writing and drawing/design, and it did not make me any happier. Now, life is better…
Ove,
Thanks, and I hope to see more of your photography work in the future too!
Clean and creative design. Me likey.
I hope to be there on Saturday for both, Readings @ Seksan’s and also Breakfast Club. Hope things go as planned.
And while I’m still here, I must tell you that I read some pieces from Broken Mornings.
The fact that they are short makes it a whole lot more difficult to write good prose.
You, however, pulled it off.
I enjoyed reading those few pieces and would like a printed copy if there’s any?
Heya kG!
Glad ya dropped by. I’m trying to be there this Saturday for both too, but the Breakfast Club is a sure thing.
Thanks for the feedback, but I have to come clean here: the only reason why they aren’t any longer is cos I just don’t have the attention span to spin it out. When I do, I find the stories incredibly verbose and swamped with semicolons (more than the usual, I mean).
As for a printed copy, hmm, maybe if you gave Eric a hint, one fine day, there might be?
The link to Eric leads elsewhere, dude.
I’m not complaining, however.
My first time here. Charming bloke, I mean, blog. Your life begins again at..err..28, how?
Young hunk, old soul? Yes?
Impressive line-up at the Breakfast Club. I’ll try my best to make it. I’ll be in me black fishnet stockings, leopard-print micromini and me white spiky stilletos to rival the twin towers so I’ll be easily identifiable. I’ll do away with my bustier though, dont want to be too conspicuous *hee*
kG,
Now, how did that get there…?
Thanks for letting me know, bro. Definitely not family-safe. Then again, I never said this was a family-safe site, did I?
See ya this Sat, loads to yak about, haha.
The Quiet Storm,
Welcome! That’s a wonderful description of yourself there. I doubt anyone could miss you in a crowd. And aww, why not the bustier too?
As for me, I’m reclaiming my life now I’m 28. Pursuing things I’ve never allowed myself before, e.g. writing, design, yoga, etc. Try old non-hunk, young soul finally? Haha…
Kenny, Gong Xi Fa Cai. I tried to do the sidebanner for Lydia but fail! How?
For your short story, it takes me very long to download….still loading after 36 hrs..still going…. Any shortcut?
Dear Julie,
Gong xi, gong xi to you too. I have emailed you the PDF for Broken Mornings and some detailed instructions on placing Lydia’s sidebar.
It usually takes five minutes or less to download; 36 hours is much too long… Hope this helps!
Hey Kenny,
Happy CNY and Gong Xi Fa Cai.
It’s already Day4, so fast… =(
Anyways, enjoy your holiday to the fullest.
Cheers
Heya Chris!!
Oh yes, holidays pass us by real fast. Only 11 days left to collect red packets… Hunt them married people down, I say, hunt them down and getss uss ourss preciousss angpowsss…
(I kid, I kid. I’m a good boy this year. Also, shy lah, 28 want to ask for red packet some more meh?)
Hey Kenny,
Love the poster u made for the LitBloggers session this sat..sadly i dun think i’ll be able to make it..still CNY…parents probly going visiting..(me collecting angpows. hehe..)
no shy shy la, Kenny..did i tell u my eldest cousin is the same age as u? and he has declared to everyone he will be marrying only after 30. heheh…and i have also say i shall collect angpows for a few more years, at least. heheh…no shy shy one..as long as we’re not married. hahah…=D
Heya spiffy,
Oh I think collecting angpows is a most worthy calling. I wish I could indulge in it too, but at 28, ah, perhaps a tad too old already.
As for your eldest cousin, I did that once, but I think these announcements can end up being self-fulfilling prophecies or work in reverse. Either way, one tends to end up with something quite different from the original intention.
Life doesn’t take orders from mere mortals, ya know…
hahhaha…i totally agree. i’m kinda waiting to see when is he gonna get married but not too rush tho..if not my KPC aunties will start rushing me to get married too. blehh…=p
Haha… if you are worried about KPC aunties, you should try reading some P.G. Wodehouse - it’s all about KPC aunties (and a miserly rich uncle or two).
hahha..serious? hmm…alright..will download sum to read..;o)oh, i almost finished reading ur book. i especially love “Smell”…;o)
Yes, but try translating the title in different languages. In Malay, “Bau” - eh, doesn’t really work well. But in Mandarin, it would be “Wei Dao” - actually sounds more sensuous than in English.
(For those of ya who don’t speak Malay or Mandarin, I’m talking about “Smell” here, one of the stories in my book.)
Kenny; I’ll wear my bustier if you promise to put wear your paisley bush jacket and your off-white faux crocodile elevated shoes. Deal?
make that either put on or wear! LOL!
Adoi! Now you are making me so wishing that I did have a paisley bush jacket and a pair of off-white faux crocodile elevated shoes.
Now, what’s the weirdest thing I have in me wardrobe..?
