.
You lie in bed, worn out from your fight
“Rest and recover,” says he, “from your plight.”
You barely understand a single word
The dreams and shapes come and go with the lights
This is a hospital bed, this is where angels fear to tread
This is your quiet daze, have his grace instead
“Sleep, dream no more, have your respite.”
He leaves you first.
The days and nights, they come and go
The angels sing yet they hang their heads down low
You circle and twist and the sheets are chains
Inescapable, some sort of unfastened pain
No more words, only fight.
With your beloved by your side.
These are quiet days when grace seems dead
He holds you first.
He kisses you even as the moon loses her light
The night claims, and darkness spreads then dissipates
Grace that waits, grace sent from Heaven
Angels have no words, only this song for a pair of songbirds.
Dawn breaks, it’s morning again, you open
Your eyes and he is the first song you hear
The consonant cries, “My dear, dear, dear…”
He loves you first.

For A Lil Fat Monkey + McCutie, a pair of lovebirds in sickness and in health. (Get well soon, Monkey!)

get well soon Lil Fat Monkey! Hope it’s nothing serious…
that’s a sweet one. but slightly disturbing.
Kenny,
You are really good with words. How I wish I can have your skill…hehehe!
» cumi&ciki
Keep sending the positive energies for healing! And Lil Fat Monkey is on the mend, with much TLC from McCutie.
» J2Kfm
Oh dear. It’s not meant to be disturbing at all. Just appreciating the warmth and care two of my friends have for each other.
» Jennifer
Thanks, but if only that were true. Sometimes even words fail to express the love I see around me.
that’s a really sweet gesture from you
yes, get well soon lil fat monkey!
Never lose the voice to sing out of the darkness and pain. Not just the patient but the carer too. It keeps the chin up.
Another song! So who are the songbirds?
» sc
Yay! More positive, healing energies!
» Chin
Exactly. Both the cared for and the carer needs good lovin’.
» Paul
Them songbirds would be A Lil Fat Monkey and our lil McCutie.

» lotsofcravings
Song writing? Where got? I can barely hold a tune to save my life. (On the other hand, whilst driving yesterday, my better half was scrambling to record this half-baked song I was spontaneously spouting, so you never know…)
It did sound disturbing. Hope everybody is ok, and stay healthy.

Does it, really? I must not have written it properly then. For example, the last line of the first verse simply mean “he leaves the ward first, so you can rest.”
Visiting hours ma…
poems with birds always remind me of tagore.
perhaps my fave are the poems his “stray birds” collection.
woah, kenny the lyricist…woohoo!
» Nic (KHKL)
Read very little of Tagore. Mayhaps now is the time to correct this lack in my education, no?
And Kenny’s definitely not a lyricist! For starter’s, whassat?
when are you putting in the music?
» keropokman
Music? Music? Eh… Any composers reading this blog? LOL
tagore has a way with words. his poems are absolutely beautiful– and so are urs

Now I really need to dig into some Tagore. This appears to be an increasingly horrendous oversight on my part. And you’re sweet to say so, but I’m in no league like his… I don’t do poetry much at all, in fact!
Is Lil Fat Monkey okay?
Get well soon Monkey! I’m sure McCutie will take really good care of you! Wish I can send a get well soon card for him. Warmest regards to both lovebirds!
And Kenny, do inform me if this will be on a song okay?
Heehe
Cheers!

Ahh… more love and positive energies make this world go round and round…
P.S. If this ever becomes a song, everyone’s gonna know…
Hope Lil Fat Monkey gets better soon.
I’m sure with all the love and care going around, it’s just a matter of time when Lil Fat Monkey will be swinging in the trees again, and probably more “lil”, than “fat”.
» Michelle
You mean:
A Lil Fat Monkey –> A Lil Monkey?
Aww… That’s so sweet, Kenny. Thanks for the sweet, sweet poetry. Thanks for the well wishes and thanks for being such a friend. Devil included too. (Yay! Devil’s got a mention here… lol)
And to everyone, a very big thank you for all those kind words, caring thoughts, positive energies and earnest prayers.
Monkey was a brave lil soldier at the hospital and had a smile on despite this being his first time being admitted to a hospital.
He is recovering well at home now and is getting better day by day. Being an active person, he wants to get out of the house but this McCutie here will have to be a nazi and make him stay home a couple more days to properly heal before being exposed to the harsh world out there… lol.
Thanks once again to everyone. *Hugs*
» McCutie
Thanks for the update, O Brave Nurse of a Lil Brave Soldier!
Oh I hope he’ll be okay la..
Nice one. Full of emotion and love…
» equilibrium2008
He is okay lah. Now he’s sending text messages asking me why I’m calling McCutie a *unmentionable yet unbearably cutesy lil woodland animal*…
Aiyo, the trouble I get into…
out of curiosity, McCutie is a Mcdonalds cutie toys fan is it? That’s how the nick came about
Cough and love are hard to conceal. Even a small cough. Even a small love.
A Lil Fat Monkey –> A Lil Monkey?
Maybe *cheeky grin*..
Or maybe Lil Skinny Monkey might work. As long as he likes his new name..
»keropokman
That one ar, must ask a Lil Fat Monkey. I am not privy to the whole nickname-giving business. I’ll hazard a guess that your guess is probably not it. I hope.
» gina
True, what more this love ain’t small at all. Big FAT McLove.
» Michelle
Ooh, he’s LOVE that new nickname… Hehe.
Ya…I was waiting for music too! Can you have a video blog made out of this song?
*waiting*
» tigerfish
Wahh… first music, now you guys want a video blog??? I’ll let you in on a secret though: I’m meeting one of my favourite local music composers/musicians/producers for lunch tomorrow and who knows? We might be discussing music and words…
Officially on your blog, thanks for the lovely dedication and all your kind words. Me Skinny? Well not anytime soon. But you can expect A Chunkier Monkey !
» A Lil Fat Monkey
A Chunkier Monkey? Sounds like a brand of PB+J or ice-cream leh… And you’re most welcome, kind sir. Just happy you’re on the mend.
