Once in a Lifetime

~ moments captured ~

.

3.
It starts with three words. The ones we all know. Books and history, television and movies, it’s written in celluloid and on paper, if not the stars.

“I love you.”

And while some journeys are briefer than others, the fortunate few go the distance. Through good times and bad, the path to the wedding aisle is not an easy one. Finding the right person is no easy task, making it work, making it last, even less so.

I won’t be telling you a story this time, dear readers. Every love has its treasures and its triumphs. What I will share, however, is simply the admiration and joy I hold for those who do make it. Those who make these three little words, so often uttered carelessly and perhaps all too frequently, mean something. Indeed, mean something very special indeed.

.

~ love in the city ~

.

2.
It’s what every girl dreams of. The day she will get the wedding of her fantasies, the perfect wedding. The white cloth, both veil and gossamer; the lavender in satin and in soft petals; the lush green of nature’s blessing — a garden wedding this, simple and pure and full of the promise of all the tomorrows to come.

Butterflies flutter around, live ones in the courtyard and sparkly-glittery ones on the wrists of the maidens. Flowers in abundance, tastefully coordinated to match the colour scheme, as are the party guests. The smiles on everyone’s face.

They all wait in anticipation. Here comes the bride. Step lightly down the aisle like the angel you are. The man you love standing by your side, your hands in his, and the pastor speaks.

The question that comes once in a lifetime is asked. And you both answer, the only two words necessary:

“I do.”

.

~ once in a lifetime ~

.

1.
Who?

To spend the rest of my life with, through thick and thin, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to have and to hold… No other. There has never been any other, not really. Simply, only…

“You.”

Can’t wait to show you the logo that I’ve yet to continue working on. Until then, we can only anticipate. But I’ll let you in on this, from what I’m seeing in my head, it looks good. LOL

  • awww. Weddings spell such lovely smiles and it oozes of lurrrveeee. It’s funny how since getting engaged, weddings r making me more teary than usual! Darn those emotions.

All the hard work that goes behind the scene though. Great work Kenny!

    Excerpt

When two people are at one
    in their inmost hearts,
they shatter even the strength of iron or bronze.
And when two people understand each other
    in their inmost hearts,
their words are sweet and strong,
    like the fragrance of orchids.

May the Beautiful Couple have a Love that Last.

The photos speaks a thousand words. A job well-done, Kenny. :)

Oh I definitely am looking forward to your logo design. What I have seen thus far is already quite brilliant. :)

And here’s to our first wedding planned together something soon in the future!

    » daphne
You’d be surprised how many guests went teary-eyed… including this wedding planner himself!

    » lotsofcravings
    Hehe, I’m back… finally! :P

    » Argus Does (What?)
Thanks for your kind wishes for my friends. My prayers for their life-long happiness too.

    » Jemima
That is beautiful, dear. Thanks for sharing and for your well wishes for the happy couple.

These are my favourite lines —

“their words are sweet and strong,
    like the fragrance of orchids.”

    — for they remind me of my just-married friends, who are two of the sweetest and soft-spoken folks I know. Perfect. :D

  • where hv u bin?! welcome back.. :D and great to read another cool post. Love the colors.. so artistic so chic…

Hahah, I’ve not been anywhere (I wish I was though, a vacation would be lovely), just very busy with work and under the weather of late. Thanks for the very warm welcome back.

And I muted all the colours here to shades of lavender and violet cos they were the bride’s colours. A nice change, no? :)

  • there are many things that we wish to do more than once in a lifetime.

    but definitely not this.

    and that’s a blessing.

very nice artwork there, dude! and welcome back! :D

Thanks, and I shall take this opportunity to point out that the amazing photographs (most of them here) were taken by the redoubtable Jon Low of Idealwedding (see credits above). It’s hard not to come up with decent collages when I have such great material to work with. :)

  • Very very nice photos. :D and lovely write up.

  • Hi Kenny

What beautiful pix. Sorry I haven’t been here a lot since you migrated your blog. Been quite inactive in blogging, which includes blog hopping!

I have a book design contest at my blog. Care to pop over to have a look? Thanks.

    Thanks, dear!

    » Lydia Teh
No worries, glad you’re on board again. All the best with your book design contest. I’m going to reveal some new book designs on this blog soon too, so dear readers, do look out for them! :D

Beautifully captured moments and impeccably written.

Well, for those of us who have loved and lost, it may just mean it’s another turn on the stile and we have a choice to get back on the road and discover new loves and adventures. There is always something good for us, if we are willing to have it.

    *hugs*

Aww, thanks. I’ll get back on my feet again soon.
You are right. It’s always a choice.
Need to find myself again, let go and get back some of that lost hope.

*Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow,
That I shall say good night till it be morrow*

  • as usual your way with the Photoshop has left me breathless and this time, also a lil whimsical.
glad to have you back. :)

congratulations to your friends and you do make one heck of a great wedding planner!
    the wedding looks absolutely gorgeous!

  • Where there’s passion, great things happen. You, my friend, have a passion for love, hence the gorgeous wedding we see here.

  • Rachel is such a beautiful person (and I’m not just talking about her looks, but the person that she is), and the photographer (and photoshopper) has captured that well. Well done, Kenny Mah!

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

I am sure you will get back on your feet again. :)

Perhaps the next time, it won’t be a quote from Romeo and Juliet but something happier like this one, also from the Bard:

I love thee, I love but thee
With a love that shall not die
    Till the sun grows cold
    And the stars grow old.”

    » lingzie
Don’t daydream too much though… still gotta work, bro! :P

  • Perfect man for this job. So, when do you get to plan your own?

  • Lurve the bride’s colour! So much better than the usual overdone pink.

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

    » Yuri
Always the love, always the passion. You got it, bro. :)

    » Lyrical Lemongrass
Aye, that she is. If Jeff had not gotten to her first, I’d have swiped her off her feet, I would.

As for using my full name, I jolly well know how you and the rest of the bloggers have transformed it into a verb. Outrageous! :P

    » Lee Ping Chong
When do I get to plan my own? Heaven knows! LOL

But when that time comes, I will leave the stress and strain of planning the wedding to my business partners — it’s what we do best, after all. :D

    » Tummythoz
Agreed, it’s all about making it special for the bride according to her likes and dislikes. And I suppose, if she likes pink, we can make that work too. ;)

  • Hey, do you always pipe up and ask “Do what?!” when each of the couple says, “I do”? Who uses your full name as a verb and how? Tell me and I’ll Kenny-Mah them.

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

    » Plain Argus
I’d wager the merry prankster who tries that line would likely be lynched by the even merrier wedding mob. :P

Who uses my name as a verb? Well, I won’t tell on people but let’s not stray away from a certain lyrical lady… As for what it means, apparently they use it to denote the process of photoshopping a picture particular to yours truly, e.g. “That photo looks like it got kennymah–ed.”

Crazy, crazy world out there, I tell ya.

  • I do not like the process of wedding, to be frank with you. Maybe the Chinese customs and customary are just too much for me!

  • Turning into a wedding planner? Ahh..if only I know you earlier then my wedding wouldn’t not be such a nightmare. Well..blame me cos I am a last minute person.

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

    » tigerfish
Ah well, then you’d love this one — we did away with most of the traditional customs and rituals and kept it refreshingly modern, just the way the couple liked it. :)

    » Precious Pea
Haha, I’m sure it wasn’t that bad… Too late for you, my dear, but maybe I can still be of service to your yet-to-be-married friends? :D

  • congratulations on making their first official step a reality.

as in most things their ups and downs will be bitter sweet

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

    » backstreetgluttons
I like the sound of that — their first official step. And what comes next? The pitter-patter of little feet, eh? ;)

  • hey, din realise Chinese employ wedding planner as well. the other day I was arguing with an Indian fren of mine, as she said wedding planners are normal for their custom, but I on the other hand, said wedding planners are unheard of in chinese weddings.
    now I know I’m wrong. =P

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

    » J2Kfm
    Times change, I suppose. :)

In these busy, frenetic days of ours, what better way to ensure the blushing bride remains so not because of running around madly to ensure everything for the wedding is taken care of, but because she just came home, well and pampered from a spa session while her wedding planner does all the work.

Waitaminute, maybe I need a spa session too. :P

  • i love the 2nd collage! did u design it urself, or was it compiled by the professional photographers?

  • So SWEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTT.….
    .…feel a bit diabetic.…

    This is jaw-dropping..awwww..kinda sweet..

Totally redeemed yourself, from keeping the hungry readers waiting.…..

Kinda sweet? I was hoping for supremely saccharine… :P

  • I haven’t read any of the words yet.

The photos and composition are breathtaking. My heart’s about to burst. They look so happy, so in love, so cherished.

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Now you know how I felt on that special day itself. :)

  • you should be proud that KennyMah stands for something of quality.

just like how people use the word google now.

    now let’s google kennymah. LOL.…

  • That picture in front of the McD’s is priceless.

  • yes, very nice! get well soon:D

  • The groom wants everything fast forward. He suffers temporary amnesia. While the bride wants and unforgettable experience. Play out the fantasy in slow motion. The gown, the flowers, the atmosphere, the feel, the emotions, food arrangements, table setting and every tiny details.… I envy your role! Glad you are back.

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Not too sure if my name stands for something of “quality”, but I sure don’t mind the inference. Hehe.

    » Sharanya
Agreed. Jon Low is an amazing photographer, ain’t he? :)

    » Cumi&Ciki
    Feeling better now, thanks!

    » Chin
To be honest, the groom was very supportive of the bride’s decisions and of my role in this. Definitely no Groomzilla or Bridezilla in sight here. I’m one lucky wedding planner. :D

  • haha, your writing style and paragraphing suddenly very reminiscent of QDSLR wor.….
gorgeous wedding, love the color scheme. hey, i thought you blogged about this wedding before?

  • ooops, i just rechecked your blog. aiyo, you only wrote about YOURSELF there!!! guffaw!!! (i better not say anymore, wink wink nudge nudge…can feel the heat from the boulder oridi).…

    2. Hahaha, interesting how everyone assumed I blogged about it before just cos the wedding appeared all over the blogosphere like the day after. Really was too busy to do it justice till now, and even then I chucked out the idea of a “behind-the-scenes” series for something simpler like this.

P.S. Next blog post will feature something from my favorite gym-going baker, hehe. ;)

  • AIyoh, so roma.…..whispering nothingness but ILOVU is the sweetest thing a lady would look for.…but sometimes after a blissful wedding.…the lady may demand for.

  • O dear…I wonder how it get this far…it suppose to be a very private and low profile wedding, but it ended up with such high exposure in blogsphere.

I decided instead of wondering about the “why” behind the “what”, I like to say “THANK YOU

Thank you for your wishes and all the wonderful words/ things you say/write. It is definitely beyond what I can imagine. Thanks.

However, if any of you ever see me in person…pls do not ask me “How’s married life?” I’ve been asked since the 2nd day I am married!
