All Through the Night

.

I have spent enough days living out of hotel rooms and luggage bags. Every airport looks the same, the check-in gates, the customs, the conveyor belts that spit our baggage and our burdens. It’s been a week now since I last saw your face, held it in my hands, drawing you in close for a kiss, a forever embrace though our hugs and our tears could only have lasted minutes. These cold sheets do not hold your scent, these mirrors do not hold your smile in the morning. I eat take-out, the contents do not matter. I miss your cooking. I miss shopping for the ingredients with you. I miss just walking past you and leaning forward simply to smell you. You smell so good. You are a wonder, baby; how did I ever get this lucky?

My suitcase is packed. The plane ticket snug in my pocket. There is a taxi waiting to take me to the airport. I’m coming home, baby, even if I have to fly all through the night. I’m coming home.

    welcome home, dude!!

    no place like home, eh?!
    :)

    • Kenny Mah says:

Just landed at KLIA! Yup — there’s truly no place like home: in the arms of my baby, that is. ;)

  2. jemima says:

    M. Gandhi was right when he said “Where there is love, there is life.” ;)

*imagines Kenny serenading to his love*

“Baby, its good to be back, so good to be back

Baby, its good to be back in your arms again

Baby, its good to be back, so good to be back

Honey, its good to be back with you, oh yeah ”

    :P

    • Kenny Mah says:

Serenading? Oh but I do. Alas! my better half thinks my efforts at Malaysia Idol-ing is more akin to the croaking of an inebriated amphibian than anything else. :(

  3. Edward says:

  4. Precious Pea says:

  7. cumidanciki says:

wow! makes me wanna leave, just so I can fly back and feel like that !. hehe.. so sweet.. melt melt

    • Kenny Mah says:

Hahaha… so farnie. Wait till you do it as regularly as I do, then you might just wanna change your mind. Heh.

  8. J2Kfm says:

you’re coming home from where? ……

sorry been off the blogosphere for some time now ….

    safe journey home anyway.

    • Kenny Mah says:

I’m coming back to KL from Kuching + Miri, Sarawak. Next up is Sabah, JB, Singapore, Malacca, Perlis, Perak… It’s almost like I’m doing a tour of the whole nation!

(All I need is my own rockband and I’m set!)

  9. Chin says:

I am ready to go home when I step into the plane even though it is the 1st leg of my trip. Miss the warmth of my loved one. I loved this to point of being tempted to use it as my own.

  10. lingzie says:

only one word for this post… awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

    ~sighs longingly~

  11. Kenneth says:

    *Sigh*

such love. such longing. such description … LOL … it makes me all tingly.

i absolutely ADORE your prose and ability to … describe your emotions, thoughts and situations … and look forward to reading more and more …

    • Kenny Mah says:

All tingly? You mean, like an electric shock? Hehe. I kid, I kid. Thanks for reading, and I’ll be sure to keep writing. :)

  12. And on the opposite end of the spectrum, there’s me. So I call up Bald Eagle one day. I say, “Hey, what shall we eat for dinner today?” And he replies, “Darling, you do realise that I’m not coming home tonight coz I’m not in KL, don’t you?” Ouch. Talk about losing track. :-) He came back last night, farted a bit, and went to sleep. :-)

  13. Nic (KHKL) says:

songs of “home” are playing in my mind right now. from daughtry to buble to simply red…

yeah, nothing beats the comfort of home, be it a person, a sofa or just a song. ;D

    • Kenny Mah says:

Speaking of sofas, I can’t wait to get my own place (something with my name in the title deed) and then I can shop for the craziest, comfiest sofas ever! :D

  14. sigh..if only i got someone longing fr me like tat..
OK, *snap back to reality* so did u eat the Kolo mee???

  16. kristopher says:

this reminds me of the song by cyndi lauper. a very heart-touching rendition, both hers and urs.

  17. Bosscat says:

ohhh.. someone is out for work eh? how was the trip?

nothing can beat the bed at home! so seducing… LOL!

  18. The monkey scrolls through his iPod playlist and presses “play”

    *** Cue song ***

“I’m staring out into the night,
    Trying to hide the pain.
I’m going to the place where love
And feeling good don’t ever cost a thing.
And the pain you feel’s a different kind of pain.

    Well I’m going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me…”

    *** Cue Smile ***

  19. as coming home always heightens memories of almost slipped caresses n mixed touches, filled with lingering heightened expectations of what might not be …so let ambering hopes linger on till the last of time ,once more

  20. Michelle says:

*I feel all warm and fuzzy right now…* :)

  21. unkaleong says:

    *sigh*

I know a spot where you can get nice comfy sofas. Hahaha..Welcome back bro.
