50 First Movie Dates

.

There’s a new Star Trek movie out. I hear Captain Kirk does the doozy with a hot green alien chick in it. What more do we need?

But you’re not convinced.

What’s Star Trek?”

Well, it’s based on this 70’s TV series with Federation Starfleets and warp drive and ooh! the Vulcan nerve pinch and they made a number of movies before this too…”

Sounds like I’d need to know what happened before.”

It does help, I suppose…”

Hmm.”

… But it’s not necessary, I assure you.”

Really?”

Basically it’s just an action film. With lots of EXPLOSIONS. And HOT ACTION, if you know what I mean.”

Hmm.”

C’mon, baby, it’d be a fun date movie. When’s the last time we gotta go on a movie date?” (Commence sad puppy dog eyes.)

Oh, all right then. If it has lots of explosions.” (Obviously bought the sad puppy dog eyes routine. Again.)

.

Every movie we watch is a new one. Let’s have 50 first movie dates and then watch 50 more. Let’s watch the whole galaxy of films and then watch them geeky director’s cuts together. Promise me that. I’ll always buy you popcorn and I’ll always clumsily spill some onto your lap, if only to pretend to swipe them away as I hunt in the dark to grab your hand in mine. I love your jumping in your seat and pulling me close (we should watch more horror flicks) and how I can look into your eyes staring at the screen like a newborn child seeing something for the first time and I am that child too, looking at you.

I’ve changed my mind, after our movie date tonight. Forget about Kirk and his emerald extraterrestrial. Commander Spock and Lt. Uhura’s much hotter together, you can see that. It’s in their eyes, just like it’s in yours and mine.

  • Pssstttt.… if not mistaken, I felt asleep during a Star Trek or Star Wars movie, can’t remember anymore… It happened in Singapore, hehehe… I guess the cinema so nice that I could felt asleep (never happened before).

  • oh. is that why there’s always pop corns everywhere. ;-p

  • We enjoy this one tho, lots of explosions and falling off cliffs or deftly hanging on.

only regret was that the ladies din xsite nor stone us at all, not one bit

  • Hahaha! That’s the funniest review of Star Trek to date! I had firmly decided that it’s not a movie for me, it’s SCI-FI, and Hollywood for goodness’ sake! But you’re making it hard… MUST.…RESIST.EXPLOSIONS.AND.HOT.ACTION!!

  • I like Commander Spock more than Captain Kirk…but I like the Scottish dude most! So farnee… =D

  • r u sure its just the innocent hand u r looking for among the spilt pop corn?? hehehehe

  • i actually enjoyed it tho i was “dragged” to watch it ;p
Better than that stupid Terminator one..

  • Aww. Romantic giler! :) Only you could make a cinema sound so wonderful.

A Star Trek fan myself so I can’t wait to see Spock again ( so much sexier this time around btw ).

  • i’ve heard so many good reviews on this movie. kicking myself for missing it all along. now that everyone has watched it, and it’s gonna be off the cinemas REAL soon here,
i’m placing my bet on a solo run in KL.

  • Not a fan of ST.. but I’m waiting for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. :D

  • i am one of the converted patrons, did not have the slightest interest to go in first place, then got bombarded with too many good reviews and finally hook up with my cousin and aunty so that i would catch it, and oh boy, did i enjoyed it!

  • I like going to the theatres with you, while others stared at the trailers, waiting for the movie to start; we had lots of time chatting and laughing. Curtains draw, and it finally started, I whispered into your ears, looking at the beautiful side of your face in the dark.

  • Sci-fi do bore me to bits but since u make it so interesting with explosion and hot action, I try to imagine if your description is more interesting or was it the real show. Director Mah!
I will make it to the show but away from all the pop-corns poppers.

  • Only you, Mr Mah, can take any story and twist into a super duper sweet love story about you and the devil. Giving you the V-sign, “LOVE Long and Prosper!”

  • aiseh, what a sci-romantic-fi post! i usually go for the salty/sweet popcorn combo. so, i’ll finish my salty portion first before passing it around. this can prevent spilling.

oh, oh…pardon me. the spilling was intentional, i see. :D

btw, omg, what have u done to the poster??? HAHAHAHA!

  • The only time I look at Bald Eagle’s face in the cinema (and he at mine) is to check if the other has fallen asleep. You da man lar. All hail the king of romance.

naturally he thought they ‘comedied’ star trek too much… ah you can never satisfy a trekkie no?

PS: i thought the uhura-spock mushy scene was er… rather cringe worthy… though kirk’s expression during that bit was hilarious!

PPS: i do think spock’s really hawt. and kirk’s too cocky :P

PPPS: i LURVED the scottish dude (see la, lub him but kenot remember his name pulak. apalah me!)

  • I’m not a fan of Star Trek. I don’t even know a single story!!!
Am I in the same school? :O

    it is, afterall, dark.

Went to watch this movie and haven’t stopped drooling over the so-cool Spock (altho kinda “wooden” but then i guess Vulcans are supposed to be laidat!). Kirk is also cute la, in his cocky way! And i love that little “russian guy” with that comical accent and he’s sooo different in Terminator Salvation!

Aiyo, the above sounds so wrong, so salah. :P

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

P.S. Go watch the new film… You don’t need anything from any of the previous films or even TV series, though for Trekkies out there, there’s a lot of nods and Easter eggs… Bring Momo and make it a movie date! ;)

  • so so salah indeed.

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Then I must heartily commend the one who dragged you to watch this film. I’m sure Prada, whom I “dragged” to watch Star Trek, would heartily agree with me…

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Yup, Spock is definitely sex-ed up and updated (some might argue upgraded too, haha) this time round. Without revealing much, I have to say this harkens back to the days of the original TV series in terms of its heroism, optimism and humour.

I can’t wait for the sequel to this “prequel”! :)

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Oh oh! Do catch it before it’s gone! It’s an experience to be had in the theatres really. Me too, actually, wanna catch it again before it leaves the cinemas…

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

It is sooo the ears… but also the Rest of Spock is pretty damn fine too, haha.

Ah no, trust me… the film is definitely A WHOLE LOT MORE interesting than my description of it. Consider mine the very cliff Cliff Notes… lol

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

    Love Long and Prosper, mate!

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Hmm, if we were to go out in a group together, I’d wanna stick to you and share some of that saltiness too, uhm, I mean the popcorn, I do. :P

As for the poster, haha… can’t beat what I did to you and LeCoupleToy’s male half here. LOL

  • hahaha that sounds gay! the “you” obviously doesn’t refer to our dear Kenny mah. LOL! nice tactic thou, the clumsily spilt pop corn. haha!

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Haha, I know the “you” didn’t refer to me. Thought I’d go along with the flow, though, why not? ;)

On a more serious note, I do think your vignette is beautiful. Did get me thinking, she got a side of the face that’s not beautiful meh? *runs and hides*

  • HAHAHA yeah

I continue to whisper into your ears, while you shyly looked me in the eyes. Your hands are shivering, and teeth trembling; I stood up and told you that I need to go to the gents. I came back with a cup of warm tea, and put it into your hands; for you, my dear :)

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Haha, that is so sweet of you. Your girl must be much impressed. Me though, I wouldn’t head to the gents and just held her hands in mine and warmed them up myself! I mean, how can one miss out on such an opportunity! :P

Ah well, it really depends on who you ask… the original TV series was rather more comedic than the later series or movies, which were more serious, methinks.

Or we could go with your explanation — “ah you can never satisfy a trekkie” — simple is best. ;)

P.S. Aww, I thought it was touching.
