Fatboybakes’ Raya Tea Party

.

It’s Eid ul-Fitr. In Malaysia, this means most of our Muslim friends and colleagues have gone back to their hometowns to celebrate the end of a month of fasting. Cities are emptied out, almost. The roads of Kuala Lumpur are free of traffic; I remember a joke from my school days that one could lie down on the road and lie there for a good half an hour without worrying about being run over by a car or a truck. (Such morbid kids we were, and yet none of us ever asked, What about the next half hour?)

For the rest of us remaining in the city and not off across oceans and contients on some sort of sympathetic vacation, what are we to do? Left to our own devices, we could be up to all sorts of unutterable mischief. Fortunately for some of us, Fatboybakes has decided to call upon his clan of fellow bloggers and friends, some sort of modern family where we qualify by the standards to which we chew, taste and swallow with expiry dates and oh so shelf lives (I jest, but just barely), and hosted a sorta Raya Tea Party on the first day of Syawal.

These are such beautiful people, in every way that matters.

I shan’t say more, for I have sworn a solemn oath not to repeat what has passed between our reckless and promiscous lips yesterday (and I don’t merely mean the delectable delicacies that the master baker had conjured for us lucky guests), and so instead, here are a few moments from the sort of tea party we could only wish we could attend all the time and not only during times of festivities. Life’s a reason enough for celebration, yes? :)

.

Selamat Hari Raya to all my dearest Muslim friends. Maaf Zahir dan Batin.

Well, I just had dinner with Mee Siam & the Beast & their respective spouses tonight… Wish I had read this comment of yours earlier so I could, uhm, pass your messages to them. Ahem.

Sounds yummy. I prefer my rendang with lemang though… But just as good, ya?

As for the pictures, hey just pick up Photoshop the way I did. No manuals, no tutorials — just play around with the buttons and menus and soon you’ll get the hang of it! :)

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Haha, something like that. It is the holidays, after all. You have a great holiday too, dear.

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

A very happy group indeed; their smiles never cease to lift up my spirits… and then, the spirits being served helps too. :P

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

It’s all about the company, no doubt about it! We could be in a mamak stall or stuck in traffic in a big truck together and it’d be still just as much fun!

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Well, let’s hope I get you some glimpses of ketupat and rendang once I start going for all the Raya open houses this week. :)

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Likewise. Perhaps more so, since you even helped to educate the Devil on the various edible aphrodisiacs around… ;)

Haha, of course. We’re nothing if not consummate chatterers. :P

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Mr. Monkey’s version of a “scone” still perplexes me, but I’m glad someone’s enjoying it. Haha, maybe you should ask him to act a “bao” next time? Char siew or Dai bao? :P

(This is where FBB & Co. complains that they can’t figure who’s commenting what, so long lah, malas to read, dunno what to comment, etc. etc. LOL)

DO PLEASE HAVE SOME PARTIES, man… I’m sure they will rock. Just don’t forget to invite a certain blogger from KL, ya? *hints, hints*

    *BIG HUGS*

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Dull? I don’t think FBB & Co. know the meaning of the word “dull”. We wouldn’t recognise it even if the concept came right up to us and did an impression of the Mother Superior reprimanding Maria in the film ‘The Sound of Music’ while insisting it could not possibly do this said impression cos it wasn’t drunk enough. Ahem.

No, never a dull moment at FBB’s parties. ;)

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Well, I think there is a reason why no one knows what happend in the next hour, but a bit morbid to disclose here lah. :P

Haha, I’d love to do more photo-collages like these, if only I had the time! Why can’t I get a job and get paid doing just this? *wishful thinking*

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Hardly a genius, bro… I know less than the basics lah… If only I had the time to take a proper course… Ah well, I guess I have to stick to trial-and-error for now. :)

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Thanks, mate! It was purely by accident, perhaps inspired by the ‘family portrait’ in the first pic?

  • Kenny Mah wrote:

Well, I’m not the host but I’m sure you’re more than welcome. *sneaky sniggering*

    Deepavali, when is it, again?
