.

The moving’s done. The stuff we own are still in the boxes, still packed and taped up. They ain’t going anywhere soon. We are not in our house. We have left the country. Where are we now? Dear friends, you shall find out later, when we return.

For now, it’s time for a fresh start, a new leaf. Time to go back to basics and find the joy in every moment of every day of our lives. Starting now.

The air tastes so good outside, in this place not called home. We will take a light jacket and head out. The evening is just starting and we won’t be back till late. You guys have fun too. We sure will, we already are. ;)

Not yet home? Hmm. The mystery’s afoot.

    • Kenny Mah says:

Hehe. Not for another four days, I won’t. ;)

So Sherlock, tell me… where in the world do you think we are right now?

i was about to leave a comment and say, “knock knock, is our dear kenny home?” hehe

“Time to go back to basics and find the joy in every moment of every day of our lives” this simple sentence is so difficult to accomplish, i really have no idea how to. teach me, no, teach us

    • Kenny Mah says:

Hmm. How shall I put it? I think it’s when I realised I spent much of the past few weeks of moving and work travel with a tight grimace and thus clenching up my entire personality for the duration and while not exactly making myself unhappy, I certainly didn’t welcome joy into my life either.

I think joy is something we have to be open to but also that we can actively search for, in small quantities in the mundane and magical of the everyday.

And really, it is you and you and all of you who are teaching me. For that, I am much grateful. Thank you.

I must share one of my fave poems with you…

There’s a new leaf upon the Tree
A thousand, thousand have been before
In the life of this great tree
Yet, the Tree rejoices, and is glad
For there is a New Leaf upon the tree

The roots are deep, and hidden
Tis one tree from root to branch
And lives in and through each leaf
    The hearts’ smile resurrected
Through the New leaf upon the tree

    Like the stars of heaven
    New leaves have been many
And so they all are One
For they all share the same root
Bless the New leaf upon the tree

    Perfection in the Blessing
Joy released in tears of love
The strength in life will comfort
    From root to God above
A New leaf upon the tree

    Beauty, Truth, and life
    Complete from root to branch
    When life’s cycle turns
    Leaves fall to nourish roots
And behold, a New leaf upon the tree

That’s beautiful, dear. It reminds me us that even if we don’t realise any of our resolution in the many, many years that have passed us, it’s no reason not to make new ones, not to once again pray and dream towards a better future, a better life.

(Of course the success of such New Year resolutions are a different issue altogether, and something more affiliated with determination and actual execution, which knowing my rather low attention span, we shall skip here.)

These lines, in particular, truly moved me:

“The roots are deep, and hidden
Tis one tree from root to branch
And lives in and through each leaf”

      Thanks for sharing, dear. *hugs!*

  4. Jun says:

    • Kenny Mah says:
