Devil’s friends are in town as our houseguests. Two of them a married couple based in Singapore; another a doctor in Edinburgh. It’s an annual reunion of sorts. I’ve known them for almost five years now. Still, some of their jokes and banter remain absolutely inside for an outsider like me. That’s okay.
I see the delight in Devil’s eyes simply because his best friends are in town. How splendid, how wonderful — to have friends you have known for almost two decades now.
I am envious; I’m in contact with very few pals from primary school and high school. It’s okay though; I make new friends and while I may not have known them as long as Devil has known his, we have our inside jokes and banter too.
Friends are friends are friends.
