Hang Ups

What if we gave up our hang-ups?
What if we stop feeling
Like life has set us up?
What if we hung up
All our guilt and shame
All the fears that make us tame
What if we told all these things
To shut the fuck up?
What if — we gave up
— all our hang-ups?

  • You know, reading this actually made me wanna scream! (It’s a good thing, though it doesn’t quite sound like it is. But it’s good.)

  • @Michelle: Haha, I do know what you mean, dear. It’s always good to vent and let go once in awhile.

  • What do you do? To vent and let go, I mean.

  • @Michelle: Writing helps, hence the blog. It works for me, that is.

  • Whaddya know, writing works for me too.

Oh, and so does good coffee. (I seem to be obsessed about finding/getting good coffee these days.)

  • @Michelle: Firstly, sorry for the late reply — long day.

Good coffee definitely works for me too, and the combo of both — coffee and writing — works like a charm, yes?

So where are you getting your best cuppas these days? Tell, tell.

  • what.. no hang ups? how boring is that :P

  • @ciki: Wow. Do tell us more about your interesting, full-of-hang-ups life, my dear. *winks*

  • All my Hang Ups are Down.

  • @jemima: Hung down, then? *chuckles*

  • (I came back here just so I could read this again today. I’m probably going to copy this and pin it up somewhere in my room. Maybe on the mirror. Or somewhere near where I put my laptop. Or maybe I should just put it on my desktop background. Oh wait, I’ve got too many things going on to see my desktop background. )

I like this kind of poetry. Real, without all the frivolities. Just very real.

I’m in no position to order you to do stuff. But.

Write more of this stuff. It’s good.

  • @Michelle: This was probably just me ranting so the thought of you printing it out and pinning it up somewhere brings a big smile to my face, really.

And I do want to write more, I do. That must be my theme this year: Write.

  • See me when I’m out of the country. Zero hang-ups. I dance on the streets, I fall over drunk and I kiss cute strangers on the lips.

  • @Paul: I could do the first item on your list but Devil will probably frown on the other two. *chuckles*

  • What are hang ups?

Sorry my english is very poor. D:

  • @Michelle Chin: Definition, courtesy of http://www.thefreedictionary.com“A psychological or emotional difficulty or inhibition.”

    Hope that helps, dear.

  • i’d love to hear erykah badu put these words of yours to music and sing them in her inimitable voice :D

  • @Sean: I was busy all day so didn’t get your Erykah Badu reference till I read this article. Her poor fans…

  • We’ve got the same theme again this year! (I remember we had a theme last year too. Something about “The year of doing things”. Or something like that.)

But yea, though I’m not making it my main focus this year, it’s still something I’m planning to do a lot more. And I’ve got a couple of “projects” I want to work on too.

So yay for more writing. (You should share. Good things are meant to be shared. I mean, the stuff that you write that’s not published here or on TMI or anywhere else, yet. Maybe you’re working on your own project as well? Share!)

  • @Michelle: Haha, I think I did way more things than I should have last year. This year may be the year of slowing down and figuring out what really matters, then focusing on that like a laser.

I will write more, promise, and I will share. In due time… *winks*

  • Oh. Hmm.. I’m still making this year my Year of Doing Things, but maybe like you, slightly more focused on finding a direction.

    But yes. Share!

PS: I know espressoLAB at Solaris Dutamas has some excellent coffee. Haven’t physically been there though, just tasted their goods at other events. Should make it a point to go there one day.

  • @Michelle: Let’s both do more things, then — but things that we truly want to do. That will be our guide.

P.S. I’ve heard good things about espressoLAB too and cannot believe I haven’t tried them yet — will go soon. Shall make it a date? *winks*

Really sounds like a lyric of a song about hang up and which is most likely to be called Hang Up? :p hehehh

  • @Rad: Didn’t Madonna do a song called Hang Up or Hung Up or something? Heh.

  • you know, the good thing is we are able to pick up the courage and let them go but the bad thing is those ‘ hang ups’ that you call it keeps coming back and that really drives me crazy. you know, baking and cooking is a good therapy for me..

  • @lena: My therapy is writing. Whatever works, well you know, works! *hugs*
