happiness is a cute pair of buns too! LOL :D (you guys don’t have any shortage of that.. AHEM!)
Errr… ok.
:D
Like. :)
fraking cold here in curitiba…poslaju satu HOT bun mari brazil… by the time it has arrived me, would become a warm one i guess lol
@ciki: Heh heh. I’m sure I have no idea what you mean. Ahem.
@gfad: Thought you might like this, given your recent baking frenzy, dear.
@Shannon: Yay!
@fufu: But… you got a pair of buns yourself… Frozen in Curitiba, perhaps, but still…
I think you should adopt the “simple” approach from now on. Love how short the post is. Now we wait for the essays of comments that follow such a short post.
@A Lil Fat Monkey: Cis. Haven’t I always been “simple” in my posts? Ahem.
*likes*
Warm buns and hungry mouths and all that, ya? *winks*
@Michelle: Oh, especially the hungry mouths. And the all that ain’t half bad, either.
*winks back*
(Cute buns!) LOL. I’m with cheeky Ciki on this. :)
@J the chocoholic: Uhm, great choice? Hahaha…
Woohoo… warm buns are good, so comforting too! ;-)
@Pureglutton: Yups, nothing like coming home to a nice pair of warm buns after a long, tiring day at work.
That’s what I call comfort, er, food.
that picture is priceless!
@lotsofcravings: Well, it sure didn’t cost anything more than the price of a freshly baked mentaiko bun, courtesy of my favourite Franco-Japanese bakery.
That, and a cute model helps too, generally speaking. Ahem.
I was expecting a pic of the other sorta buns! :P
@Paul: Hahaha, you just would, wouldn’t you? I wonder what sorta other buns…
from such a simple post i can gather that someone’s hormones are raging.
did that bun get a spread of butter? (in the cleanest sence of the word)
@mr sekimachihato: Hormones? What hormones? Unless you mean growth hormones for who knew such a simple post could induce growth in certain, special places? Uhm, yes.
And what’s a bun without some fresh butter? (Not necessarily in the cleanest sense of the word, ahem.)
lol
spread that butter and those buns!
@mr sekimachihato: GUFFAWS!!!
Dude, you just won the Grand Prize in The Most Hilarious Comments on LFB Contest!
(Okay, so there isn’t a contest, but if there were, you’d totally win it for that comment. Heh.)
he seems to be in shocked!
@keropokman: Dude, you’re totally confusing Shock with Ecstasy. I assure you Devil’s experiencing the latter, very much so. Hehe.
maybe he’ll surprise u with a bun in the oven someday :P
Into a hot oven the buns went,
And the smell of the baking was like they were from Heaven sent.
The photo of Devil and his warm bun smelled so buttery and pretty,
Jemima wished she could have a taste – just a little bitty!
@Sean: Oh if that happens, I’ll really be SURPRISED!
@jemima: A warm bun poem! Now this is a much nicer surprise than a bun-in-Devil’s-oven, haha. And…
Jemima shall have more than a bitty,
For her lovely lil warm bun ditty!
Just need have Devil his knees bent,
He won’t know where his warm buns went!
Shining in his stickiness and glistening with honey,
Safe amongst his sisters and brothers on a tray,
With raisin eyes that looked at me as Kenny calls Devil his Honey,
They smiled a friendly cinnamon bun, which I quickly took from the tray.
@jemima: Did you just called me a cinnamon bun? Er, not quite sure. Lemme think think and come back with a proper response in verse…
No lar…. Devil baked us a cinnamon bun. :P
@jemima: Devil did? How come I dunno wan? More importantly, how come I didn’t get to taste his buns?
The cinnamon buns, I mean. Ahem.
Cis! The only buns I am or have been referring to are small bread rolls, often sweetened or spiced and sometimes containing dried fruit.
My mind ain’t in the gutter. AHEM!
:P
@jemima: Oh now you got my tastebuds salivating with those delicious descriptions of a bounty of buns!
And my mind’s never in the gutter either, dear – it just has an overactive imagination is all. Ahem.
“an overactive imagination”.. Yup! I believe you do have one. :)
Currently, my mind is in 1st gear…
My proof is the verse below which I am dedicating on your behalf to Devil. :P
Thank you for…
Always “rising” to the occasion
Never letting things rub against your “grain”
Being there when I “knead” you
No matter how you “slice” it, you’re a “cut” above the rest!
No offence meant, Kenny. The verse is written in good fun. You have every right to delete this comment if you don’t share my sentiments. I won’t be offended. In fact, I’ll extend an advance sincere apologies to you & Devil. :)
@jemima: This is SO PERFECT! I just read it out to everyone at dinner, and they LOVE it! They misheard some of the words though, ahem. (I shan’t say which ones, and what they misheard it as. They know who they are though. *coughs, fatboybakes, coughs*)
Thank you, dear, so much!
*HUGS*
Birds of the same feathers have overactive imagination… AHEM!
I’ll say Nite~nite for now & leave you to enjoy the rest of the nite in peace. :D
@jemima: G’nite, dear! Sweet dreams…
Oooo I lurve USBs!!! That’s Ultra Sexy Buns kekeke
I admit, for a long time warm buns weren’t on the list of things I -could- eat. But now? HELL YES. :)
And to be honest? Yes. Happiness is very much like a warm bun, especially when one is hungry. University days that bordered on starving taught me some very precious lessons on the beauty of simple things – especially food.
@babe_kl: Hahaha, let me rephrase the post title then – Happiness is an Ultra Sexy Bun (USB)!
@Shuku: Hmm, another stab at rephrasing – Happiness AND Health is a Warm, Gluten-Free Bun!
And thank you for sharing, dear. I remember my near-starving university days too. Ah, those WERE the days…
@jemima: In lieu of a proper bun poem to balas pantun you with, guess what I’ve found?
A video of a classic – the wonderful Chā Shāo Bāo (Pork Bun Song) sung by a Caucasian teacher! It’s certainly fits the theme!
The Chinese lyrics, with its English translation below:
叉燒包
誰愛吃剛出籠的叉燒包
誰愛吃剛出籠的叉燒包
還有那蓮蓉包呀 豬油包呀 魚翅包 豆沙包 應有盡有

還有各式各樣的上海包
讓我來告訴你有生煎饅頭大肉包

Barbecued Pork Buns -
Who loves hot Barbecued Pork Buns in the steamer?
Who loves hot Barbecued Pork Buns in the steamer?
There are Lotus Seed Buns, Lard Buns, Shark’s Fin Buns, Red Bean Buns, etc.
Guangdong Buns -
If you say you do not like Guangdong Buns,
Then there is a wide variety of Shanghai Buns.
Let me tell you that there are Steamed Big Meat Buns, Dumplings
as well as Vegetable and Meat Buns.
My dear friends,
Tell me which Buns you love,
Tell me which Buns you love.
Shanghai Buns? Guangdong Buns? Shanghai Buns? Guangdong Buns?
Some prefer Guangdong Buns,
Some prefer Shanghai Buns.
My friends,
Tell me which Buns you love.
Shanghai Buns? Guangdong Buns? Shanghai Buns? Guangdong Buns?
My favorite ones are Barbecued Pork Buns.
(Chinese lyrics by 艾愛; English translation by Oswald Yiu-por Li.)
cute… But we hardly can have warm bun except u bake it urself~
@mimid3vils: There’s a Japanese-style bakery in my neighbourhood that puts up a “JUST BAKED” sign the moment fresh offerings come out of the oven – so yeah, we can get warm, toasty buns! Yahoo!
You’d have that look in your face too hor if your buns were opened and spread with butter..
:D
@gfad: Ho ho ho, I assure you I’d have quite a different sorta look altogether…
LOL!!!! That video inspired me to write another verse… :P
“I love pork bun, its flesh flawless and pale,
Its insides warm, never stale.
Gluttonously, I consumed it all at once,
Leaving me with a want,
To taste Kenny’s & Devil’s Cha Siu Bao.”
@jemima: Hmm, all these bun verses would make most folks bun-adverse, I guess, but not me! Makes me hungry for more, actually:
His cha shao bao
Is well-endowed
With a firm bite
The skin so tight
Why, your loh mai kai
I could try to defy
But I remain gluttonous
For your rice glutinous…
Huh! Lor mai kai???
That’s not a bun.
Be right back!
It’s prayer time with the most important person in my life. ;)
@jemima: True, loh mai kai isn’t a bun. It is glutinous though, which was the only thing I could think of to rhyme with ‘gluttonous’, hehe.
May your prayer time be filled with serenity and grace, my dear. *hugs*
Wah! Like that also can hor… :P
Anyway, I finally thought of a title for the photo of this post:
“Bundelicious!”
:P
@jemima: BUN-delicious or BUND-elicious? Cos the latter reminds me of Shanghai Bund, and in turn (naturally) of Shanghai buns…
How does the song go again? Chā shāo bāo / Shuí ài chī gāng chū lóng de chā shāo bāo…
This post (and more so, the comments) is totally making me hungry at all odd hours of night and day!
BUN-delicious!
Well! If you’re that hungry, how about a peanut butter & jam sandwich? :P
@jemima: Bun-delicious, it is then. Just means I get to imagine (and imagine savouring) all sorts of buns (and not just the Shanghainese variety, hehe).
A PB&J? Would be great if I were still itching for a bite, but I just had a (rather sinful given the lateness of hour) slice of FatBoyBakes’s new cake, pumped up to the max with peanut butter as per the Devil’s request (and A Lil Fat Monkey’s design).
It’s CAKE-delicious!
Btw, I’ve never commented so many times in a single post. This is definitely a first. :P
@jemima: There’s a first time for everything! And what’s more incredible is how focused all our comments are! Mainly on buns (the baked variety) and little else! That’s a first too, hahaha…
KENNY!!! It’s a SIN to torture me (& your other readers) like this.
*bangs head on the wall in HUNGER-NY*
@jemima: Oh dear. Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned that bit about FBB’s new peanut-buttered-to-the-max cake, eh? Well, no fret – I can make amends by posting some pics of the cake in question… maybe TOMORROW?
*cackles evilly away*
YOU’re such a Cruella de Vil. :P
TOMORROW it is then. :)
GOOD NIGHT, Kenny.
May your dreams be filled with BUNS! :P
*HUGS*
@jemima: Did you just say Cruller ala Devil?
Cos I do love my deep-fried Chinese crullers (a.k.a. yao char kwai or ‘Oil-fried Ghost/Devil’) and you know what? Some crullers would go really nice with some hot porridge now, with half a devilled egg on the side…
*note to self: stop thinking/talking about food so close to bedtime*
Good night and sweetbun dreams, my friend…
*HUGS*
Good morning, Kenny. :)
You’re a FOOD-Smartie.
Your imagination is really FOOD-Sassy.
That’s why your blog is so FOOD-Lustrous.
Your FOOD-Chic mind will always have me & your other readers coming back for more FOOD-Promising posts. :D
Have a great day, dear! :)
@jemima: Good morning, good morning!
Your greeting has certainly surprised me and brightened up my day! I’m speechless, totally.
You’re a SIMPLE man.. so easily pleased. ;)
Have a great & FOOD-filling weekend, my kawan. :)
@jemima: Not sure if I am a SIMPLE man, but quite often my actions reveal a SIMPLETON behind the scenes, ha ha.
But aye, doesn’t take much to please/amuse me. Life’s easier that way.
I rather hope this weekend will be SIMPLER also, food-wise… been binge-ing too much of late on such cholesterol-and-calorie laden meals…
Ya know, i’ve had this title in my mind for a long time but just couldnt find a suitable post for it. But you executed it very well, as always. :) and what is this mentaiko bread??? Do tell!!!! Hehe.
@Nic: Oh no! It just came to my mind cos Devil always called the mentaiko bun we had and loved in Tokyo.
It’s from a Franco-Japanese bakery called Vie de France. Methinks you’ll love it – you must try it the next time you’re in Japan!
happiness is nom nom nom! : )
@rokh: The nom-nom-nom-miest! Heh.
