I see us driving for miles and getting lost
I see the maze eating us up like a riddle I’ve failed in guess
I see you giving in, taking that cigarette in your hand
And holding out another one for me
I know I wanted to take it, I’m sure of this
And I swear I would have taken it
But I wake at this moment and you are gone.
I feel like a cigarette – I do not smoke
But you never offered me one
Not once, just held out one for me, no
And you never held out for me
Though I would have taken you anytime
I would have taken you anytime
I would take you now if I could
If only you had held out for me
But it is only a cigarette I woke too fast for you to offer.
I wonder though: would you have offered?
You hold the cigarettes; you do not smoke
You will suck on it, the life from your eyes has died
I see you like that and I feel like crying
Like it’s somehow my fault
No one loves me
All I want is a drag now
All I ever need is you now
I want to take a puff – I do not smoke
I see you like that – and I would have.
