Everyone seems to be telling us to live in the present these days. (Live in the NOW!) It wasn’t always this way; there used to be a respect for nostalgia and wallowing in mistakes and failures unamendable. There is some kind of beauty in not being able to change things, and yet longing to attempt the impossible anyway.

We could fantasize about the day we weren’t too scared to take the other road. Would it have made any difference? The woe and longing is absolutely divine if you can suffer it.

In dreams we try, again.
