I’ll have to make this last chapter rather short, cos if I were to go around writing about how the girls took us on a wild goose chase in the morning to an artillery musem that turned out to be on the other side of the city, and later when we did get there, we managed to take the most scenic route possible because the presence of a much shorter path was obviously not to be tolerated,… I would be lying, right, Dona?
So I won’t write about that. Which explains the brevity. I would ruminate on the weird park with all the dogs, including this little gimpy one that looked like it was shivering its skin off and another that enjoyed playing catch with Mike but growled heartily at Manuel who obviously was after its scruffy, chewed-up ball, …but I can’t cos this obviously did not happen as we did not get lost in the morning.
What I will write about is KFC for lunch and the Italians never tasting the good old Colonel’s chicken before cos the poor bastards don’t get them back home. And me never trying out another of Mike’s puzzles again cos I am such a sore loser. (I still think my answer was better…)
I will also write about Manuel and I trekking down the hill just to get to Dunkin’ Donuts at Wenceslas Square. He’s only had them in Dublin when he visited Ireland, and loved them ever since. You cannot imagine the look of joy on his face. I took a photo of him and a pack of six donuts just for Memories.
Finally I will write about dinner for the guys at TGI Friday’s. Just splurging our last dimes on grilled Jack Daniel’s chicken and gastronomic ecstasy. And of course, this meant I spent an entire day eating American franchise fastfood, but you can’t get this shit in Berlin. A taste of home if you will. Or the American food we get back home.
When we left Prague, I was down to my last legs. Not sleeping for the past two days seemed like such a good idea at the time…
