  • 当你闭上眼睛看见我,同时我也闭上眼睛梦见以前那快乐无忧的我们。

    当你睁开眼睛,你还能看见我吗?当我梦醒时,我们还是快乐无忧的吗?

    • Omigosh, I’ve forgotten about this post. I must have used Babelfish back in the days to come up with this sentence, before it had pinyin. Using Google Translate now, I realise the sentence structure is very odd indeed.

Your comment makes far more sense, my friend.

  • Babelfish? I’m not even going to pretend I know what that is. Heh.

And please, friend, Google Translate hardly makes any sense. Let’s not even go into sentence structuring. =p

PS: I find it oddly comforting to go into a random era of your 10-year blog, and read a random post that was written before I got to know you.

    • Babelfish was/is a free online translation service long before Google Translate existed. It got bought up by Yahoo eventually, I believe.

Ah but I wasn’t reading the English output of Google Translate; I was reading the pinyin. Babelfish (back when I used it in 2003) didn’t have the pinyin output which was why I posted such a horrendous sentence. Eeks.

P.S. Devil tells you to enjoy; there’s plenty of it (the posts, he means). I roll my eyes.

    • Ah okay, I see what you mean now about the pinyin. Funny.

About there being plenty of posts, it certainly seems like it. But I don’t like reading them all in one sitting. Defeats the purpose of making it random. While you roll your eyes away, I will sit and work and wait for the next random moment on the next random day when I randomly pick a random month and random year to read a random post of yours.

PS: Tell Devil I’m enjoying it thoroughly.

PPS: Hope you both enjoyed the coffee at espressoLAB yesterday.

    • I was rolling my eyes at Devil, I assure you, not you. One needed to hear the tone of sarcasm in his voice as he delivers the most innocuous of lines with that poker face of his to appreciate my need for ocular revolution.

P.S. Devil says hooray. (This time sans sarcasm.)

P.P.S. We did. The best espresso+milk coffee we’ve had in KL, easily. We still prefer non-espresso coffee most days though. He’ll probably write a long-ish post about that one day soon, if he can muster the energy.

    • I think I know that “tone of sarcasm”. He probably said something like “大把!“

Yay, for you loving their espresso+milk. Definitely the best I’ve had since my return to Malaysia from Auckland a couple of years back. Hence why I’ve mentioned espressoLAB to almost everyone I meet who drinks coffee.

I’m not sure, but when you say “non-espresso” coffee, what do you mean?

    • Hahaha — yes, something like that. He’s always wondering how I was/am able to “output” so many posts. Mostly rubbish is how, I tell him.

And you can tell I’ve NOT been to a coffee 101 — what I mean by non-espresso coffee is simply single-origin coffee brewed by other methods like the siphon or an ice-drip. I think subtler flavours do emerge this way. I may be quite wrong, of course.

    • Go for the 101 the next time they have it. They’ll be having an espresso session too, so maybe you might want to join that as well?

But you’re quite right about the different brewing methods bringing out different flavours from the bean. =)

We should make that Typica Cafe date some day soon. =)

    • What’s the difference between the Coffee 101 and the espresso sessions?

Typica date – any weekday? They open at 11:00am but are closed on Wednesdays. Note they will be away on a learning trip to Sumatra visiting coffee estates there from 27th March till 5th April.

    • 101 sessions are like.. general 101 sessions. They talk about from seed to cup. Espresso sessions, if I’m not mistaken, are more towards tasting, to learning to differentiate between good and bad espresso, how blends and single-origins differ. That sort of stuff.

Oh, the Typica people are going off quite soon then. Well, let’s make it for when after they return from Indonesia then. (Seems like you’re quite up-to-date with what they’re doing! You must be a frequent customer. Will have to count on you for good recommendations then.)

    • I believe today’s the first day we have not gone to Typica in the past week, mostly cos it’s a lazy Sunday for us. The siphonists there are in a better position to recommend coffees, really — half of the fun is in the selection and watching them prepare it for you.
