The usual excuses apply: Non-stop work travel. Non-stop business meetings. Non-stop eating (and the extra pounds to show for it). And the incessant ringing in my head that there’s just one more thing I’ve to do, to complete, to hand in by a deadline (always urgent, always pressing). That’s non-stop too.
And the usual results would be me wallowing in a quagmire of stress and sleep-deprivation except for the past three years, I’ve had you to come home to. However bad the day is, I get to come home to you. To hug you, to brush our teeth together, taking our turns to spit into the washbasin and to grin gleefully at the mirror and at each other, making sure there’s no stray trace of toothpaste foam on our cheeks, to get in bed, say good night, and rest from a long, long day, with our hands cradled in each other.
Whenever the road got tough, used to be I wandered off into a lost world of my own. Now I just find my way home. To you. Three years, man. Ain’t a long time (not yet), but it sure is something. It sure is something.

Three years is a long time! Three years ago, we had a different prime minister, and America had a different president. The No. 1 song was Leona lewis’ ‘bleeding love,’ and the world hadn’t heard of lady gaga or ke$ha yet … But amid all this, the most exhilarating thing is the thought that if fate is kind, you both still have 10 x 3, maybe 20 x 3 years together ahead of you. I’ll drink to that! :D
P.S. Is that a tyrannosaurus Rex in the poster? How come that’s the dinosaur that’s always portrayed as the villainous, rampaging menace? I’m betting that in the history of the earth, no t. Rex has ever even eaten a human before =)

P.S. In cinematic history though, ol’ Rex has chomped down on many a human bean… And he’s not villainous, just has a fussy lil palate… Heh.

This coming home to someone, a staggering concept… and very very new to me. Definitely takes some getting used to, but it is an immensely gratifying process. My only hope is that in 3 years’ time, it’ll still feel as new and blessed as it does for you both!
