  • Happy Chinese New Year to you too!

  • @Paul: Hooray! I love extra-early CNY greetings. (I’m greedy that way.)

Happy Chinese New Year to you, bro!

  • this is too early! i haven’t even had my CNY haircut yet! :D

  • @Sean: Ah well, CNY haircuts are generally best left to the last minute… assuming you’ve managed to wrangle an appointment with your hairdresser, of course. Hehe.

happy new year….. to u and devil and to all your family members…. :))

  • GONG XI! GONG XI!

    HONG BAO NA LAI!!!!!

  • @vimesh: Thanks for the early well wishes, my friend!

@jemima: Hahaha… oh but I’m an unmarried man, my dear, not “qualified” to give out angpows yet… *sniggers*

  • so early dong dong chiang already ah?? i prefer, ‘choy sun toe, choy sun toe!’ May the rabbit brings in loads and loads of goodies for you and most importantly, good health!
not qualified to give angpows?hmm ..think you’re overaged to receive angpows!

  • @lena: Dong Dong Chiang also can, Choy Sun Toe also can – all are uproarious, wonderful sounds ot a good, prosperous year.

I LOVE THE MUSIC OF CHINESE NEW YEAR!! Woo-hoo!

Heh. And what do you mean overaged? Me still young lah… No?

  • let me zoom in and take a clearer look at your face first….zzzooom..yeah, very young, no white hair, no premature wrinkles, no crow’s feet..excellent..flawless complexion!

  • @lena: Okay, okay… so maybe I do have some wrinkles, dark circles around my eyes, a stray white hair here and there… But I’m young at heart? Hehe.

  • agree to this. Reading your posts makes me feel young too. if it can make me look younger, it’s even better.

  • oh, forgot to give you a hug today..**HUGS**

  • @lena: Haha, the fountain of youth! Don’t we all wish for it. Sometimes though, I can’t help but wonder if I might not enjoy the slow passage of time leaving its traces on my face… There is something wonderful about growing older and growing up, after all.

    And — *HUGS BACK*

  • Time to change my ringtone to “choy san dou” ^^

  • I think I’ll let my hair just grow out this season. A rabbit with a lion’s mane might look magnificent :D
Just realized: isn’t ‘dong dong chiang” the sound that funeral processions make?! :p

  • @mimid3vils: That is an amazing and festive idea! Go for it!

@Sean: A vampire rabbit with a cannibal lion’s mane even, in your case. Heh.

And — dai ka lai see ah! You obviously need a refresher course in festive Chinese music. Remind me to burn you a copy of The Greatest Hits of Chinese New Year Music (as compiled by Kenny Mah) to pass to you soon.

  • Eeks that would be freak of nature instead of a majestic creature! Might as well go another step further and make it vampire rabbit with cannibal lion’s mane and little mermaid’s tail :D

Strangely, I first read what you wrote as “compiled by Kenny G” and thought it was really bizarre that such a famous saxophonist would make an album of oriental festive melodies.

And ahem, no thanks, CNY songs are music to my ears as much as Norwegian funeral dirges are (hmmm, what a poorly constructed sentence) :p

  • @Sean: You know, I do believe a little mermaid’s tail would go rather well with your whole ensemble – a touch of sea-witchery to it. Siren Sean, perhaps?

Hmm, you got me thinking. I wonder what it would be like if the cellist Yo-Yo Ma did an album of Chinese New Year classics? Hmm…

  • Ahhh, it’s the time of the Veggie God again… :P

And yesterday was a -lovely- evening, m’dear. Thank you for having us over, and I loved meeting Nisa. I like her lots!

  • @Shuku: Veggie God? Hmm, kinda lost there…

… but it was a lovely evening and dinner. I actually reheated the leftovers last night and spooned it over plates of pasta – the beef stew for me, the braised pork and mushrooms for Devil – it was DELICIOUS.

And everyone loves Nisa for some reason. Maybe that’s why I keep her as a best friend, hahaha…

  • We were out this morning and the shop was playing CNY songs on the DVD. Hubby asked if we shd get one for the house… and I gave him an evil stare. End of story.

  • @Babe Sumo: Aww… but ’tis the music of the Gods of Wealth, Prosperity and Health, duncha know? Music to welcome the coming of Spring and a brand new year! No? Hehe.

No dong dong chiang here. Will you please burn me a CD and keep it til I return? Don’t think the neighborhood AhChoy will be selling The Best of CNY Favourites Tunes then.. :D

  • @gfad: Haha, you can come and pick your fave CNY tunes from our collection… and play them all year round! Hooray!

  • Whoaaa.. so early for CNY! But then, it’s not too early for wishing you, Happy Birthday!!! :)

  • @Selba: Haha, thanks for the birthday wishes, dear! *hugs*

  • @jaclyn: Nothing like returning home for reunion dinner during CNY – it’s my favourite time of the year! Happy CNY to you too!

  • I am looking forward to the reunion dinner. I am still undecided what to cook. Happy CNY to you.

  • @Quay Po Cooks: Nothing like reunion dinner – my favourite time of the year. My fave dish? The fried wontons that my nieces make for me, as learned from their grandma, my mom.

It’s truly a family affair! I bet your reunion dinner will be fabulous too, whatever you decide to cook. Happy CNY to you!

  • Happy CNY to you and ur loved ones… Have a safe drive back… :)

  • @asstha: Thanks, dear – you have a safe and wonderful holiday too!
