Unassuming Utrecht

So, here’s what happened next: We decided that we needed to find a place to sleep last night instead of say, spending the night in a public park with a profusion of muggers as company.

Of course, Amsterdam being Amsterdam, this meant there was no places for us to stay, not without a month’s prior booking.

Which we did attempt prior to coming here, which got us three nights’ stay starting from tonight in a place so dodgy it wasn’t even listed. But we did find a place here in a city nearby called Utrecht, which is just as good, really.

If this city is to A’dam what Augsburg is to Munich, it is a really bad comparison. Cos this place rocks, man. More nightlife than even Munich, which, I must admit is not saying much. Suffice to say, other than “coffeeshops”, we found everything we could have wanted here that we could have found in A’dam.

Dance club till 4.30 in the morning with J-Dawg, spliced with Dutch-style Bavarian screamsongs. Right.

Good fun, and the breakfast today was excellent. Also met a couple of girls from Miami, Mya and Jennifer. Mya’s actually got all of us covered – she’s spent four years in Kuala Lumpur (love the fact that she calls it K.L., like any self-respecting local), had a Danish boyfriend, was born in Jordan near where Hadi’s from, and she’s American, obviously.

Till my next blog, go do something bad for yourself (but not to).

N.B. Here’s some info about the place we stayed. Please come here, if you happen to be in Amsterdam, it’s very cool.
