Trying to explain the World Cup to Americans may be the hardest thing I’ve attempted yet. I mean, c’mon, this is a country where “football” is nothing but a poor excuse for rugby.

I was telling J-Dawg about the intensity of it all, I mean, this isn’t just plain, normal everyday football, but the World Cup. Whole nations sitting down tight (or rather standing and jumping and screaming) and holding their breath. He just said, “More air for me.”

Americans. I give up.

Which is weird that the USA is ranked 13th in the current FIFA world rankings. This from a team that was ranked 32nd out of 32 the last World Cup unless I’m much mistaken. Good for them, though I doubt they even care.

By the way, this time I’m supporting the Italian team. I wonder why…
