Where Krabi meets Phuket

Plae rak chan duai chai thoe

By Kenny Mah

This is where Krabi meets Phuket. It’s a pun but it helps us remember we are walking along Krabi Road in Phuket’s Old Town. The colourful Peranakan shophouses a few streets away along Dibuk Road. The BKPP fangirls who tick landmarks off their lists, from The Memory at On On to the Sang Tham Shrine.

For us, it’s café crawl: from Rush Coffee at Rommani to Campus Coffee. We consume more cups of pour overs and flat whites to keep us up all night. (And learn to ask the baristas to omit the sugar or syrup from our Dirty almost everywhere. The Thais like it sweet.)

We have never been here before, not together. Yet it feels like we have always been walking these streets, telling the sunset about each other, over and over again.
